Digital Signage over RF Coax

SignStream™ Media Players are network appliances that broadcast digital signage as HDTV channels through RF coax systems. Browser-based SignStream Media Express Web pages manage playlists, media libraries, and system setup. Event scheduling assigns playlists, start and stop media, and controls displays. Low-cost controllers integrate HDTV displays, responding to commands sent through the RF cable, and using the display’s built-in digital tuner to present high-resolution content.

Media files are industry-standard ATSC MPEG-2 Transport Streams, and content can be originated from HD video production, Adobe AfterEffects, and even PowerPoint presentations.

Media player options include SSV-300, a rack-mount 3RU media player that hosts up to three Signstream HDTV modulator cards, or the SSV-306 RAID player that hosts up to six cards.

Digital Signage means many things to many people. SignStream tends to find a home in several venues:

  • Retail Signage. A key value in this application is that the media and control operation never touches the store's POS network - a huge advantage over conventional network-intensive signage solutions. Second, it's easy to change and extend the RF network as the store's layout reforms over time. Third, the same technology that provides the HDTV demos in the TV section can deliver signage to the rest of the store.
  • Corporate and College Communication. SignStream is an attractive solution for number of corporate and college campuses. They already have extensive RF networks in place, so SignStream add new value to that existing "gigabit pathway" - one that requires no new wiring or network resources. As SignStream can deliver content and control displays - it's a perfect tool for emergency alerts as well.
  • Sports Marketing. Many arenas, stadiums, and other sports venues are already upgrading TVs to flat-panel displays. SignStream gives them full control through the existing RF system - and turns any display into an in-house signage display. Just imagine - delivering in-house food, beverage, clothing, and event presentations to the skyboxes before the game can help pay off the cost of the display network itself.
  • Corporate Communications. Looking for a better way to communicate to your employees? SignStream offers two solutions to distribute your message throughout your campus by re-tasking your existing RF cable system for HDTV signage. The best part is it's easy to collect and create fresh, relevant content. All departments can use PowerPoint as a familar graphics tool, collaborating together to distribute content in a virtually free content process. Overall SignStream benefits include:

  • Single media player for all displays - lower installed and support costs.
  • Distributes media and display networking over RF coax wiring, taking advantage of an existing or alternate gigabit pathway for signage data
  • Broadcasting control and media over RF does not impact site's IP network bandwidth.
  • Content can be downloaded from an IP network independent of the site LAN or POS system.
  • Low-cost, intelligent display controllers can integrate a variety of makes and models of displays.
  • Onboard display control software can control signage and non-signage displays across the facility for other needs and emergency paging.
  • Employs content from a variety of signage resources, from a simple digital DVD-quality PowerPoint "movie", animated graphics from Adobe AfterEffects presentations, to full-blown HD video productions.
